Circulation Policy
  

 

Library Cards

Persons six years or older who reside or pay property taxes on property in the Francesville-Salem Township Public Library district, which includes all of Salem Township are eligible for free Francesville-Salem Township Public Library cards.

 

To Obtain a FSTPL Card

 

Francesville-Salem Township

1.Show proof of residency

2.Previous library will be called to verify patron is in good standing

3.Settle any previous fines/fees

4.Card will be issued after verifying information; full privileges will

commence.

         

Reciprocal Borrowers

1.Patron needs a library card from home library

2.Home library will be called to verify patron is in good standing

3.Settle any fines/fees

4.Card will be issued after verifying information; full privileges will

commence

No library materials (including Overdrive) may be borrowed from the Francesville-Salem Township Public Library unless the person has a library card in good standing (no long overdue items, no fees.)

Students and Staff attending a public or private school in the library district are eligible for free FSTPL cards with full borrowing privileges.  Persons living outside the FSTPL district may apply for a free FSTPL card with full borrowing privileges as a Reciprocal Borrower.  Patrons having a PLAC card will have full borrowing privileges.

Loan Periods and Limits

Circulating computer software:                              2 weeks, with 1 renewal; 3 per household

Blu-ray/DVDs                                                1 week, with 1 renewal; 3 per household

All circulating books and periodicals:                      2 weeks, with 1 renewal

CDs                                                         2 weeks, with 1 renewal

 

If an item is on hold for another patron, it may not be renewed.   Persons 16 years and older may borrow Blu-ray, VHS/DVD’s with signed parental permission form.

 

Fines and Fees

Fines and fees may only be paid in US currency.  Fines do not accrue on days the library is closed.  Lost or damaged material will be charged the original retail cost of item plus $10.00 processing fee.  

Lost or damaged borrower's card: $1.00

Fax fees:

Outgoing                            $1.00 for first page; $0.50 for each additional page

Incoming                            $0.25 for every page

Copy fees:

Computer print-out                  $0.25/page

Copy machine                        $0.15/page of an 8 ½” x 11,”  0.20/page of an 11” x 17”

 

 

Interlibrary loan (ILL)

FSTPL staff will attempt to obtain needed resources for patrons from other libraries across the state when necessary.  Talking books program: A collection of talking books and the equipment with which to use them is available for patrons through the Indiana State Library.
